Three basic security programs to keep your computer runnning
1. Firewall. Block intruders to access your PC.
2. Anti-spyware. Keep your passwords, accounts and information away from spyies.
3. Anti-virus. Protect your files and computer from being erased by viruses.

1. Recovery disks or installation disks. You'll need them in case you need to format or reinstall your windows and programs.
If you are like most of us, you won't have them.
Then, what do you do? If your computer is brand new and does have a CD or DVD burner,
usually you can create those disks, find a recovery cd creator program in your programs menu, you may order those with your PC manufacturer.
And what if it is not brand new and you can not order them.
Then use a backup program to backup your windows or make an image or your hard disk
for recovery.
For other software like Microsoft Office, your translator or games (if it did not come preinstalled) you will need to have the installation disks (create backup copies if needed and store them in a proper cd case)
or again use a backup program to make an image or your computer to reinstall it if neccesary.
Don't forget the keys or serial numbers for the software you have.
2. Disk Defragmenter. Increase your hard disk and windows speed by consolidating file fragments that slow you down.
3. Registry tool. Windows registry can crash your computer, keep it clean and ordered with a registry tool, be sure to backup the registry before make changes.
